Engineering Experience Day
(Grades 1-8)

Everyday engineers get to imagine, design, and be a part of the solutions for the challenges the world is currently facing. By tackling these issues using current scientific methods, and working closely with others in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, together we can plan to build a better future which benefits everyone. At the engineering experience days, we encourage kids to be creative while having fun building awesome projects and getting the chance to understand more about the engineering and science behind the projects. They get the opportunity to become an engineer for the day while still being able to be a kid! Together we get to explore many aspects and disciplines of engineering through hands on activities.

Grades 1-4

Saturday, November 5, 2016 (9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

Saturday, January 14, 2017 (9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

Have a fantastic day with our experienced Venture instructors as you go into the depths of the ocean and the natural environment! They will be taking you through exciting projects and experiments where you get to challenge yourself while learning all about the engineering and science that makes these projects work! This club is all about medieval times and children get the opportunity to build their very own castle! Engineering has been around for a very long time and we will look at how it has changed to get to where we are today. We will be spending the day learning about simple machines and they apply to making a castle. From a moving drawbridge, to the walls of the castle many types of engineering are involved and will be looked at further in a fun filled hands-on day!

Grades 5-8

Saturday, November 12, 2016 (9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

Saturday, January 28, 2017 (9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

Ever wondered how birds fly, why bees use the honeycomb design, or how animals and insects produce their own light? Humans have a lot to learn from the living world around us. Students will learn how scientists and engineers can mimic biology and incorporate these ideas into our own designs of the objects we use every day like the planes we fly, the structures we build, and our sources of energy. We hope to see you there! Have you ever wanted to invent something, or learn more about how the products we use every day were created? The process of inventing something new is more involved than you might think! We take kids through the design process, give them a problem and allow them to solve it. Students become engineers and will design build and test their creations.
